Before we delve too far into the depths of organising, I thought it might be nice to give you a little background about myself.
My name is Amy Kennedy and I am The Organising Bee.
I love order, I love routine and I love organising. I find organising relaxing and calming, and I’m very happy pottering around organising my pantry or linen cupboard so it all ordered and pretty. If you want, I can organise yours too.
I am not a naturally tidy person. The thought of dusting or sweeping bores me to tears - but I am working on this. I think this bemuses a lot of people, but the simple reality of it is that you don’t have to have an immaculately clean house to be organised, and those that do are not necessarily organised people.
Being organised is skill that can be learnt and can be taught. I am living proof of this. I understand first hand what it is like to live in a cluttered, untidy home. I also understand what it is like to live in an extremely tidy home.
I grew up in a family home that was happy and lived in, where doing activities for pleasure and being there for one another were valued more than the physical appearance of our home. My husband came from a family home which was also happy, but always immaculate, even with 5 children creating havoc. My mother-in-law was a wonder woman!
I have 3 young daughters, so I fully understand the demands and pressures of a young family, school life, work life balance and all that entails. Newsletters, school notes, readers, homework, after school activities, meal planning, play-dates… and so it continues.
I have taught myself strong organising skills and techniques and how to run a family without missing out on what is important for my family and their needs and I’m looking forward to sharing this with you.
My love for organising and my desire for helping others and giving back to my local Canberra community were major influences in my decision to set up The Organising Bee.
In my life, honesty and integrity are crucial. I am a current member of the Institute of Professional Organisers (IOPO), member of the now defunct Australasian Association of Professional Organisers (AAPO) and work under their strict guidelines. I also hold a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration issued by the ACT Government.
